I Think The Calm Ones Are Crazy

8” x 10” original hand-cut collage on premium cardstock

You’re not crazy.

This piece was born from a snippet of my journal; a warning against those who stay calm in a storm of undeniable chaos. Sometimes calm feels less like peace and more like denial. “I Think the Calm Ones Are Crazy” leans into the unease of a smooth surface that doesn’t match the surrounding sky.

The photo of the man with his arms overhead is a copy of an original I couldn’t bring myself to cut. I was instantly drawn to his posture; the only chaotic being at a table full of seemingly cool and collected others. The teal paper came from an experiment with gelli plates. The tornado is perfectly folded to reveal the ocean underneath, showing the contrast of storm vs silent sea.

There’s a trace of oil from the gelli process on the tornado and a visible glue mark near one of the words. The intention of this piece remain intact, imperfections accepted as part of the process. It is sold “as is” and is priced accordingly.

"I Think The Calm Ones Are Crazy" is for the ones who trust their gut over appearances. A reminder that it’s okay to question what seems composed when the world is cracking open.
